Carbon Reduction Plan
This document will highlight the ways in which Tameside Arts Ltd aims to reduce carbon emissions.
Aims:
i. Insulation
- The building is 90% insulated with double glazed windows.
ii. Using less water
- We aim to reduce water usage as much as possible by only boiling water when needed and the correct amount.
- We aim to promote not leaving taps running for long periods of time.
iii. Going digital
- We aim to reduce the amount of printed documents where possible by using shared documents and cloud storage.
- We aim to conduct video conference meetings as much as possible to reduce travel emissions.
- We continue to provide training for members of staff to improve their digital skills in order to reduce their own carbon emissions.
iv. Turning off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.
- We have automatic, movement-sensing lights installed in the disabled toilet and PC changing room.
- We aim to use energy-saving LED light bulbs for all light fititngs, where possible.
- We promote turning lights off when a room is empty and not in use.
- We aim to turn all unessential electrical equipment off at the end of each day.
v. Reduce, reuse and recycle
- We aim to recycle IT equipment where possible, by donating equipment as well as accepting donations.
- We share laptops between staff to reduce IT usage.
- We recycle waste where possible.
vi. Promote environmentally friendly ways to travel.
- Where possible we encourage staff to find environmentally friendly ways to travel e.g. cycling, walking, using public transport.
Community Café
As part of reducing carbon emissions for Tameside Arts Ltd, Daisy Chain Café will aim to:
i. Sourcing food locally.
- We aim to source food from local markets and stores.
ii. Reduce, reuse, recycle
- We aim to reduce the amount of food waste daily by only preparing the amount of food needed.
- We recycle waste as much as possible.
iii. Eliminate singe-use plastic
- We aim to use as much single-use plastic as much as possible.
- We use biodegradable and compostable disposable cups, food boxes, straws and cutlery.
- Where possible we aim to reduce plastic food packaging.
iv. Offer more vegan/vegetarian options.
- We aim to offer vegan/vegetarian options as much as possible.
